Toughest Track This Year

Tarandowah Golfers Club, Springfield, ON

The day I played here felt like a hot day in Scotland. This course is a very challenging links layout, with a lot of fescue. As a 6 handicap, I managed to shoot 94 this day due to not being use to a links style of course. Firm and fast was not my friend, believe it or not I didn’t struggle out the bunkers, but I could not sink a putt.

The struggle of being a golfer in Canada.. Winter

I was fortunate enough this year to be able to play a round in Novemeber. It may have been the coldest game of golf I have played in my life, but as a Canadian you gotta extend the golf season as far as possible, April – Nov this year!

A couple weeks into this wet, cold weather and I’m feeling bored already. There are a few ways to get your golf fix over the winter where I’m from, but it’s only so good. We got an indoor driving range that shows about 80 yards of ball flight, and a few video golf simulators/sports bar places. Video golf is fun and all, but only the long game is accurate. Maybe the technology just isn’t the best at the places in town, but hitting a chip shot close seems to be a very hard thing to do. I’ve already played three times so far this winter, but I think that’ll be it for me. It is frustrating and too unrealistic to me as a seasoned golfer. The only option is to go south #GolfVacay
